Put Skype in you Flash too!!

Hi everyone,

This is getting better and better ! While Portable Gaim allows us to use any chat client application from the flash without actually having to download the application to the local PC this one allows us to carry SKYPE in the Flash drive.
The installation is a bit tricky coz it needs the actual programme in your Flash drive.....this get around the legal issues too.
Just get the portable Skype from here. Keep the folder in your flash. Then download the actual Skype into your local machine by saving the installer to a a location which you make note of.....say Desktop. Then open the package and install it again to the desktop. When done locate the Skype.exe folder and put it in the folder named Skype in the portable Skype....you will find a .txt file in the folder saying that. you can delete/uninstall the installation in the local machine.

Thats it......you have skype in your flash! Log in normally and start using it. You can do a search with Pstart for executables and get that in he Pstart button!!

While I write this i can see that portable Google talk has also been done by the same author Rob Loach.......will check that next!!

Cheers!!

PStart the icing on the cake for portable apps!!

Those of you who have used the portable apps from your flash drive will find this tool very handy.

The PStart is an application menu that allows you to easily launch your portable apps the moment you flash drive is plugged into the host PC. When run, it sits in your system tray and brings up an icon menu of the apps you have on your portable device.

This way you don't even have to search your drive for all the portable apps. Just click on the icon in the system tray and out comes a list of items which you can modify as per your needs.

For those of you who are a bit more technically advanced you can have the program autorun whenever you plug in your drive to the USB port and it will come on automatically by following the steps shown under autorun in the PStart homepage.

Just remember to exit PStart when you decide to end your work otherwise you won't be able to disconnect your flash drive safely.

Enjoy!!
